Eckenstein, Lina Dorina Johanna

September 23, 1857 – May 4, 1931 (aged 73)

Birth place: Islington, Middlesex, England, UK

Eckenstein's two most widely held works in WorldCat libraries are Woman under Monasticism (1896) and Comparative Studies in Nursery Rhymes (1906). Identification of contributor "L. Eckenstein" as Lina Eckenstein is from the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature catalogue records. Eckenstein supported herself partly by translation, but is not known to be the translator of any of the stories by Wilhelm Hauff that are introduced by her fictitious essay "How the Stories Were Found".
