Karen Bovenmyer writes speculative short fiction, poetry, and video game scripts, and has written a historical romantic adventure novel. She narrates fiction podcasts for Escape Artists and was the nonfiction editor of <em>Mothership Zeta</em> magazine. She is the 2016 recipient of the Horror Writers Association Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Scholarship. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing: Popular Fiction from the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast program. She teaches and mentors students at Iowa State University, including being the faculty adviser to a student writing organization.
