Karen Bovenmyer writes speculative short fiction, poetry, and video game scripts, and has written a historical romantic adventure novel. She narrates fiction podcasts for Escape Artists and was the nonfiction editor of Mothership Zeta magazine. She is the 2016 recipient of the Horror Writers Association Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Scholarship. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing: Popular Fiction from the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast program. She teaches and mentors students at Iowa State University, including being the faculty adviser to a student writing organization.
