• The verification copy has no clear statement of edition or printing, but it includes a © of 1957 and the statement "First published in Great Britain 1957 by Hamish Hamilton Ltd". In addition, the list of "Other Books" by the author includes the "Worzel Gummidge" novels up through 1956, but not the 1958 "Worzel Gummidge and the Treasure Ship", so we assume this is a first edition.
• "This is a Hamish Hamilton Reindeer Book for young children to read to themselves". The back cover lists 10 other Reindeer Books with a statement "each 8s. 6d. net", implying that price for this book as well.
