"DAILY UNION STEAM PRINTING HOUSE, SCHENECTADY, N. Y." 34 stories are listed in the table of contents without page numbers where the story "The Waterfall of Yoro, or the Fountain of Youth" is missing so there are in fact 35 stories 12 drawings are listed on the list of illustrations and the preface states that all but one should be credited to "Ozawa Nankoku, of Tokio". The remaining drawing of Yorimasa, the Archer is uncredited as by one of the editor/translator's students in Tokio. Further all of the drawings were engraved by Mr. Henry W. Troy of New York.
