This collection of linked stories (two reprints, the rest original) is billed as a "novel" in the "About the Author" section. "The Renewal" and "The Summer's Dust" were "originally published in slightly different form" according to the copyright page of the 1983 paperback edition.

• The copyright page contains the complete Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Data including the ISBN (0-671-25314-X) and the LCCN (81-13591).
• Month of publication from Locus #255 (April 1982).
• "Painting by Alan Magee (over) Jacket design by Matthew Tepper" printed on the back flap of the dustjacket.
• Book is marketed as a novel, but there is a table of contents that gives the titles and page numbers of the five parts, two of which were previously published under the same name. The previous publications are acknowledged on the copyright page as a "slightly different form."
