Notes

2 stories These two stories, "The Brownies" and "The Land of Lost Toys", were/are the first two stories in many editions of The Brownies and Other Tales, as a collection of either 6 stories (from 1870) or 8 stories (from 1886).

The two stories were previously published together by Bernhard Tauchnitz in the Students series (not copyright series) as The Brownies and The Land of Lost Toys, {{OCLC|633197555}}, with a Wörterbuch study aid, {{OCLC|634921112}}, both in 1892 from publisher {{publisher|Tauchnitz}}.

WorldCat record {{OCLC|27362768}} reports another publication of these two stories only as "New York : Caldwell, [189-?]". Newspaper and WorldCat mentions of the series suggest instead 1905 to 1915.
