There is no direct indication of the source publication, but the (hidden) page numbers suggest that it was produced from Amazing Stories, April 1949. The HTML version includes hidden marginal page numbers running 60-72, as well as artwork uncredited in the text, which is probably from that issue (& thus the work of Bill Terry); the Project Gutenberg wrapper identifies Bill Terry as the illustrator. The hidden page numbers are used here in determining pagination.
The Project Gutenberg wrapper identifies the author as Herbert B. Livingston, but the text says H. B. Hickey.
A transcriber's note at the end gives a typographical correction, plus an error which was not corrected (citing the hidden page numbers).
