Title page lists E. P. Dutton & Co., Inc., New York, as co-publisher. Spine reads "Dent" and below that "Dutton." Copyright page reads: "© Introduction, Illustrations, and Collection, J. M Dent & Sons Ltd, 1970. All rights reserved. Made in Great Britain." It appears Dutton imported the Dent edition. Ray Ogden did the colour frontispiece (also used on the front cover) and black-and white-line drawings. The frontispiece illustrates "The Lights of Spencer Primmett's Eyes." The book was intended for YA sections of public libraries, and high school libraries. The Pliny excerpt is quoted in the introduction.
