  • REVISED EDITION, do not merge with the 1936 edition
  • 26 stories, 8 poems (KirkusReviews.com) Great overlap with contents of the 1936 version
  • "[T]he book has several new tales from Costa Rica, Japan, and England, and [new] poems by Carl Sandburg, Rowena Bennett, and Aileen Fisher." --Polly Goodwin, Chicago Tribune 1965-10-24 pO15 "The Junior Bookshelf"
  • Publication year 1965 from the Kirkus Reviews notice (starred) and Chi. Tribune review. Otherwise not found 2017-06-06 in search (ghosts goblins harper) of US newspapers 1964 1965. The Library of Congress gives "[1965]", so the year may not be stated in the book, although some WorldCat libraries give 1965 simply.
  • ISFDB previously reported year 1964. The Supernatural Index gives year 1964 for a second publication of some stories that are in both versions. One WorldCat library gives 1964 for the new version (250 pages, short subtitle), {{OCLC|732677336}}. Perhaps there was a 1964 printing of the original version (271 pp), but the candidate WorldCat record gives copyright date 1964, {{OCLC|671307782}}.

  • Revised ed.
  • See Title Reference for more information about Year 1964/1965 discrepancies and about Contents.
  • LCCN: 65-21281, citing OCLC 1122225 "[1965]"
  • Publ date, cover image from Amazon US 2017-06-05 (with anachronistic ISBN 0525305165). Kirkus Reviews gives the same date in a contemporary notice.
  • Cover artist is interior illustrator Wiesner, presumably as 1st ed. of the new version with new illustrations, supported by the appearance of some other online images for William Wiesner (including children's book covers).
Though "Tomson's Halloween" is credited to both Margaret & Mary Baker, Mary did not co-write the story. She was the illustrator of the original 1929 book. None of her illustrations appear in this edition. Maud Lindsay's name misspelled as Maude on the Contents page for The Wishing Well.
