21 stories, 1894 to 1906 Selected, edited, and introduced by John Hammond. Hammond also edited the contemporary 84-story collection The Complete Short Stories of H. G. Wells (Dent, 1998), which Phoenix soon published in paperback format. It may be expected, but has not been confirmed, that the titles of the selected stories are fashioned identically here and in the contemporary 84-story publications. Both 1998 Contents lists at ISFDB have been filled May 2020 without a view of the books, by import of titles from our verified record of the 84-story Complete Short Story Omnibus (Gollancz, 2011).
