There are two introductions for each novel signed "Colombo, Sri Lanka" but undated unlike the Appendix to The Ghost. The former is just 3 paragraphs and copyright 2001, the latter is 4 pages (c) and copyright 1987, 2001 per the copyright page. The Locus Index gives the page count as 488, but pp. 489-90 are used by "About the Author", which lists the beginnings of novels before their Introductions (i. e. title pages, 1 and 243). The first section heading of the novel is used in this record, which is more useful for determining the text length as both headings have a page for themselves with a blank verso, so the actual first sentence of each novel is on pp. 9 and 251 respectively.
