Dwarf Long Nose is by Wilhelm Hauff and translated by Miss Blackley. Jasper who herded the Hares is a Scandinavian tale translated by Mr. W.A. Craigie. All other translations by Mrs.(Andrew)Lang. The stories credited to Swahili Tales are from Zanzibar(now part of Tanzania) & from the collection of Edward Steere. Of the uncredited stories: -6 are Estonian from the collection Ehstnische Märchen by Friedrich Kreutzwald. -4 are Serbian from the collection Volksmärchen der Serben by Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic. -The Wonderful Beggars is erroneously listed as Serbian when it is Russian(see above). -6 are from the collection Japanische Märchen by David Brauns. -2 are from the collection Rümänische Märchen by Mite Kremnitz. -The Frog is from the collection Fiabe Mantovane by Isaia Visentini. -The Princess Who Was Hidden Underground is from the German -The Prince Who Wanted to See the World is from the collection Contos Tradicionaes do Povo Portuguez by Teofilo Braga. -The Three Princes & their Beasts is from the collection Litauische Volkslieder und Marchen by Karl Brugmann. -Mogarzea & His Son is erroneously listed as from the collection Olumanische Marchen, it is by Mite Kremnitz.
