A poor old tailor falls ill before he can finish an important commission for the Mayor of Gloucester's wedding on Christmas Day. The mice who live behind his wainscotting take it upon themselves to aid the kindly tailor (who has saved a great many of them from being eaten by Simpkin the cat) by completing the suit.
Privately printed by Beatrix Potter, prior to the traditional 1903 "first edition". Print run of 500 copies, with pictorial pink printed boards. Data from WorldCat, Wikipedia, and Bloomsbury House Auctions.
