Unfettered is a fantasy anthology created to help alleviate the medical debt incurred by webmaster and freelance author Shawn Speakman. More than $200,000 was accumulated during his uninsured battle with Hodgkin's cancer. Nearly two-dozen authors, including some of the highest selling writers in the fantasy genre have donated works to the project.
The second edition (2016) has a different introduction and an additional story, but is otherwise identical to the first edition.

However, in December 2021 the Worldbuilder's website hosted a charity auction in which Grim Oak Press sold an unknown number of the Untethered anthologies with twelve of the signature pages signed by contributors.
