The translation is sometimes attributed to Dr. R. Shelton MacKenzie. MacKenzie edited the 1859 Evans edition (US, and the Project Gutenberg source text), with his Editor's Preface in place of the Translator's Preface. He contributed a detailed Index and evidently made revisions such as "honor" instead of "honour" and "skilful" instead of "skillful".
