A Journey to the Centre of the Earth

This translation begins: "Looking back to all that has occurred to me since that eventful day, I am scarcely able to believe in the reality of my adventures. They were truly so wonderful that even now I am bewildered when I think of them."

Many secondary sources mention that information about Verne's bibliography is confused. Most sources including Reginald1 and Wikipedia date this edition as 1871. Both Bleiler sources, Clute/Nicholls and Worldcat date this as 1872. The Jules Verne Encyclopedia dates it as October/November 1871, has a price of 7 pounds and specifies the illustrator (52 full page illustrations by Rou) and format (elegant cloth, post 8vo).
