- SFE: Encyclopedia of Fantasy (1997), or Clute/Grant, notes that Housman created "many small volumes for younger children", of which it lists 11 chapbooks published 1899 to 1930 (five in that year). It identifies 9 of the 11 stories (published 1925 to 1930) as included in this collection.
- The Book Review Digest (Jan? 1931) lists all 17 contents, all entered in the database Dec 2016 as fashioned by BRD, thus with some differences from Clute/Grant and some from WorldCat library records (which also identify only 9 and 16 contents).
- Some stories in the collection may have been published previously, even as children's picture books known to Clute/Grant, but passed over by the encyclopedia as non-genre.
