- A short excerpt promoting the upcoming US release of the novel. The back text says "... comes to the United States in the Spring of 2005" but, as often happens, it wasn't released until Oct. 2005.
- This was distributed at the 2004 World Fantasy Convention (Tempe, Arizona, Oct 28-31), at which Gwyneth Jones was a guest of honor. The verification copy is signed by the author and dated "Oct. 30, 2004", demonstrating that it was distributed (and signed) there.
- The cover was a b&w version of the cover that would be used in the hc publication.
