- The title leaf of volume 2 differs from that of volume 1. Among other things, volume 2 alone displays verso the statement: "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1837, by Capt. F. Marryat, in the Clerk's Office of the Southern District of New York." (In 1839 Marryat sold copyright to Carey & Hart of Philadelphia and sued for injunction against publication of The Phantom Ship by W. H. Colyer of New York.)
