Hartmann spent time in the United States during the 1870s and 1880s. The first English-language edition of this work was published in the US, An Adventure Among the Rosicrucians (1887, 2nd ed. 1890), and may not be a translation from German. See the parent novel record, as of April 2019.

The 1910 Theosophical Society publication of this edition (US, printed in Scotland) is available at HathiTrust Digital Library with full view of the interior, as are both 1887 and 1890 publications of the parent. Its title page states "Second Edition, Revised".
