Published as weekly columns in The Daily Herald newspaper from September 13, 1940 to December 1, 1941. The original book publication must be missing later titles if the date is accurate. The Kersh archives at Boston University and the Harlan Ellison Kersh site both state October 1941 as the date for the original book publication. Paul Duncan's introduction to the 2020 edition gives the date as December 1941. The 2020 edition has all the weekly articles plus two others from January and September 1942 in addition to three supplementary stories/essays from other sources.
