This is the American edition. Originally published in England in 1894 by Hutchinson. All tales originally published in The Strand Magazine between 1891-1893. Lermontov's 'Ashik-Kerib' is translated by E.A. Brayley Hodgetts. Though stated as 'from the Russian' 'The Three Sisters and their Glass Hearts' is from the German of {{A|Richard Leander}}. Also mislabeled is 'The Prince with the Hand of Gold' which is a Polish tale, not Serbian, from {{A|A. J. Glinski}}.
