Per Clute & Nicholls' "Encyclopedia of Science Fiction" (in "Anthologies" topic): "The usually accepted candidate as first sf anthology is 'Adventures to Come' .... It was also sf's first 'Original Anthology' -- i.e., its stories were all previously unpublished -- but they were by unknowns, and it seems the anthology had no influence at all."

  • Original printing is 8.5"x6.25", has a page between the half-title and title pages with "World of Adventure Series" books, and has a color sports illustration facing the title page. Later printing is 7.5"x5.5", and omits both the "World of Adventure Series" page and the color illustration. Otherwise, the later printing appears to be printed with the same plates, only with smaller page margins. See here for image comparing these two versions.
  • "Copyright MCMXXXVII" on copyright page.
  • Price and publication date per Cole's Checklist of Science Fiction Anthologies.
  • No credit for interior illustrations or jacket illustration shown.
