The original 1966 Doubleday hardcover edition and the 1967 Ace Books paperback reprint contained 13 stories. The 1967 Gollancz hardcover edition and the 1969 Sphere Books paperback edition added "The Handler", which brought the total number of stories up to 14. At least some subsequent reprints retained "The Handler".
