Thirty Strange Stories

30 stories, 1894 to 1896 This was the first US collection of Wells containing speculative fiction stories, and the second collection after Select Conversations With an Uncle [...] (1895), a joint UK/US publication.

Thirty Strange Stories from Edwin Arnold in the US and The Plattner Stories and Others from Methuen in the UK were simultaneous publications (in two 1897-05-01 advertisements viewed, "Ready To-day" and "Immediately"). All 17 Plattner stories are among the Thirty, with 10 of 15 stories from The Stolen Bacillus and Other Incidents (Methuen, 1895) and three not collected in the UK for many years: • Le Mari Terrible (1895) • The Reconciliation (1895 as "The Bulla") • The Rajah's Treasure (1896)

HathiTrust Digital Library (HDL) catalogues one copy of this edition (record 100327274 but that is a mistake. It's a copy of the 1898 Harper edition, (c)1897 Edward Arnold, in an undated later printing.
