The short story 'Discovering Life' did not appear in the Bantam Spectra hardcover edition, and was subsequently inserted into the Bantam Spectra paperback edition as a new item (seventh in order) increasing the count of short fiction to 31 for this publication. Other than the copyright notice, and the slight changes to the table of contents, no mention of this 'New' work appears on the cover, or introductory material for this publication. This work also did not make it into the British publications from 1999.
Any editor verifying any edition of this work should double check for the presence or absence of 'Discovering Life'.
