3 novels by Verne
3 essays by other writers (one from 1895)
The three translation texts may match those in a 5-novel 1984 omnibus from the same publisher Castle Books, Jules Verne Collected Novels. The 1984 translation texts, and page lengths, are reported in this database and verified. One of the five novel titles is verified as "A Journey to the Centre of the Earth", which differs from the same story in this unverified report.
-
Edited by Alan K. Russell. Three novels with the original French illustrations.
--unknown source for that and for the two 1978 essay titles
-
WorldCat library records (OCLC, below) support or imply the other data on contents, and report, quoting the title page presumably:
-- "With original illustrations"
-- "Selected and introduced by Alan K. Russell"
-- 1 page of plates
-- size 24 cm, 25 cm
-
"Original engravings. Over 150 illustrations."
--listing in newspaper advertisement by Hudson's Books, "Anniversary: save 25% to 50% and more ...", Detroit Free Press 1979-06-07 p6A
List price $7.99 to $11.99 is implied by Hudson's price $5.99 and "save 25% to 50%".
The cover art is taken from one of the interior illustrations of A Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Credit for those is given the 1981 printing (possibly this one).
The third story is given on the cover, title page and copyright page as "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", but the title given on the half-title page, actual story and on the page headers is "A Journey to the Centre of the Earth". This printing has been updated to match the later printing.
