This novel is a fixup of the following two short stories: The People of the Crater (VT: Garan of Tav) and Garan of Yu-Lac. In addition, the story Garan of Yu-Lac was intended to be serialized in three parts. However, Spaceway magazine ceased publication before the third part was published meaning the novel is the first publication of the latter part of this story.
