Sometimes referred to as Slant to reduce confusion, the Library of Congress data states: "The title consists solely of the slant sign". Original working title of the novel was Country of the Mind. The British Orbit version simply states "Slant" on title page although it shows the "/" on cover and spine in addition.

• "First Edition: July 1997" stated on the copyright page with a complete number line: "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1".
• The copyright page contains the complete Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Data including the year of publication (1997), the ISBN, and the LCCN.
• "Book design by Judith Stagnitto Abbate" stated on the copyright page.
• Dust jacket cover and spine gives the title as Slant. The book's spine and title page gives it as /. The running header on odd-numbered pages gives the title as / Slant. The LoC CiP Data gives the title as [Slant] and the statement "The title consists solely of the slant sign".
• "Jacket art by Jim Burns" printed on the back flap of the dustjacket.
