A Stable for Nightmares; or, Weird Tales

The title page of the original edition and many of the reprints lists two of the contained authors: "by J. Sheridan Le Fanu Author of "Uncle Silas," "House by the Churchyard," Sir Charles Young, Bart. and Others". This is clearly not a list of editors and the editor should remain as uncredited despite listing Le Fanu or Young in secondary sources.

This edition was also titled A Stable for Nightmares. 'Dickon the Devil' is by {{A|Joseph Sheridan LeFanu}}. 'A Debt of Honor: A Ghost Story' is by the playwright {{A|Sir Charles Young}}, 7th baronet of Dominica. 'What Was It?' is by {{A|Fitz-James O'Brien}}. All the stories in this volume have been attributed at one time -in at least two cases wrongly- to Joseph Sheridan LeFanu.
