Rosemarie Arbur's "Leigh Brackett, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey : a primary and secondary bibliography", 1982, gives the year of first publication of this title as 1972 and also gives the name of the author as a pseudonymous Valerie Graves, and the publisher as Greenleaf Publishers, Los Angeles. According to Arbur, the place of publication is provided by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
But in an interview by Morning Glory Zell published in the magazine Green Egg, Vol. XXIV, No. 92, in March 1991, Marion Zimmer Bradley says about "Witch Hill":
"It's not really a gothic; it's sort of an occult novel. It was packaged as horror fiction. The first draft was written in 1965 when I was still doing anything I could get. The original published never did anything with it; it just sat on a shelf and then they arrested him for pornography and I think he went to jail. I wrote it as actual pornography, but now it seems so mild compared to what else is out there. I rewrote it completely in 1983 or 1984, before it was finally published by Tor."
It appears that the 1990 Tor publication in fact was the first, despite earlier bibliographical references.
