- 'Horror Special' indicated on the cover. The editorial celebrates not only that this is the 250th issue of the magazine but also marks the centenary of the publication of M. R. James' Ghost Stories of an Antiquary, hence the horror focus.
- Richard Dalby's essay 'The Top 20 Horror Authors' includes short biographical notes, together with 'selected bibliographies of their rarest horror titles', of the following writers (in chronological order of birth): Horace Walpole, William Beckford, Ann Radcliffe, Matthew Gregory Lewis, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Robert Louis Stevenson, Oscar Wilde, Ambrose Bierce, Arthur Machen, H. G. Wells, Richard Marsh, Bram Stoker, Arthur Conan Doyle, Algernon Blackwood, William Hope Hodgson, Gaston Leroux, Dennis Wheatley and H. P. Lovecraft. Includes thumbnail images of each of the authors as well as photographs of selected covers or title pages of their books.
- Robert Forrest was primarily a comic strip artist and illustrator, but also wrote at least one speculative poem (see his entries at The FictionMags Index and The Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Weird Fiction Magazine Index). His speculative art highlighted in Norman Wright and David Ashford's article includes the graphic adaptations of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and Robert Louis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Other art includes historical and religious themes. Photographs of the covers of two Thriller Comics Library books - The Picture of Dorian Gray (artist Sep E. Scott) and The Mystery of the Red Barn (artist unknown) - as well as two other books bearing covers featuring Forrest's work - Archive Adventures No. 3: Tales of Terror and Cowboy Comics, No. 36 - have not been indexed.
