Originally this trilogy was known as The Capital Code after an abandoned title for the first novel in the series; over time the author's preferred name for the trilogy Science in the Capital became more commonplace.
In 2015 the entire trilogy was abridged by the author by a little over 25% of the original, then republished and marketed as a single novel under the title Green Earth, taken from a chapter in Blue Mars.
The series contains a slight overlap with characters from the stand-alone novel Antarctica.
