Lewis Barnavelt

A number of secondary sources, including the 1997 ''Encyclopedia of Fantasy'', ''Greenwood Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy'' and {{A|Don D'Ammassa}}'s ''Encyclopedia of Fantasy and Horror Fiction'', call this series "Chubby Lewis". However, ISFDB editors have been unable to find occurrences of "Chubby Lewis" in the actual text of the books. Other characters sometimes call the protagonist "Fatty" in the first book. The closest we have been able to find is "Chubby Lewis, the timid but dauntless hero of ''The House with a Clock in Its Walls''" printed on the back cover of the 1993 Puffin Books edition of ''The Figure in the Shadows''. There is a reference to "her chubby friend Lewis" in the text of ''The Ghost in the Mirror'' (1993, completed by Brad Strickland.)
