The format of issue #1 is that of a trimmed pulp magazine, but the contents and the high price make it look more like a book. All stories and essays in issue #1 were written either by Shaver alone or in collaboration with Palmer. Palmer added very extensive footnotes to the reprint of "I Remember Lemuria!" published in issue #1 and was credited as a collaborator.
