Ghosts & Scholars

Subtitled "Stories in the Tradition of M. R. James". First issue had no number, titled simply "Ghosts & Scholars". Second issue titled "More Ghosts & Scholars". Subsequent issues were numbered. 33 issues of Ghosts & Scholars were published in hardcopy between 1979 and 2001, at which point Pardoe changed its title to The Ghosts & Scholars M. R. James Newsletter. Under this title, the fanzine ran for another 33 issues, published irregularly 2 or 3 times a year, from March 2002 through to April 2018. The Newsletter was published on-line, although hard copies were available for purchase. The content was similar to Ghosts & Scholars, although mostly without fiction. Then the fanzine reverted to its original title and form again, beginning with October 2018 (#34), still edited by Pardoe for the first four issues, then by Guest Editors from #38. The final 50th issue of the fanzine is planned for spring 2026. ISSN: 0968-7777
