Pied Piper of Hamelin
Legend of the town of Hameln on the Weser river (now in Hameln-Pyrmont, Lower Saxony, Germany). Originally the Pied Piper is an itinerant rat catcher who visits the town in year 1284. The earliest known version is from a stained-glass window in a Hameln church (circa 1300, no longer extant).
