Trumpet

Fanzine published by Tom Reamy with ten issues from 1965 to 1969. An eleventh issue was in 1974, and a twelfth issue was published by Ken Keller in 1981 after Reamy died in 1977. Following the death of Tom Reamy in 1977, Trumpet #12 was published by Ken Keller in an effort to resurrect the title. Reamy had followed Trumpet #11 (1974) with Nickelodeon #1 (1975) and Nickelodeon #2 (1976) with co-editor/co-publisher Keller after becoming embroiled in a publishing deal with Nostalgia Inc. that didn't turn out as he had hoped or been led to believe. Trumpet #12 would be the final issue. popular fanzine Trumpet, featuring fantastic illustrations and cover art. Reamy, a significant and award-winning American Sci-Fi and Fantasy writer and publisher, who was an important figure in Science Fiction Fandom. He was the head of MidAmeriCon's publication division, exerting a strong editorial influence. Reamy died prior to the publication of his exceptional first novel, Blind Voices (1978), which deals with the arrival of a strange and wonderful "freak show" in a rural Kansas town. His book had earned critical comparisons with the works of both Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, and Harlan Ellison, causing fans and critics to ponder how important a figure he could have become. Ellison wrote a foreword memorializing Reamy in the original version of the book.
