Leonard Nimoy's Primortals

Primortals (also stylized as PriMortals) was an American comic book series published from 1995 to 1997 by Tekno Comix, later under the Big Entertainment label. The concept was created by actor Leonard Nimoy, inspired by his visit to the SETI project. Although Isaac Asimov had passed away in 1992, he was credited with contributing additional concepts. The series blends science fiction with superhero themes, focusing on philosophical and political questions about humanity's place in the universe. The story centers on humanity's first contact with an advanced alien species known as the Primortals. In ancient times, a powerful alien race called the Majae abducted various species from Earth and uplifted them to sentience on distant worlds. One such being, Avitaur Zeerus, a winged alien and former governor of the planet Achernar Three, flees to Earth after being overthrown. His arrival sparks widespread debate and chaos, as he warns of a coming galactic threat. Public reactions range from awe and worship to fear and hostility. The series ran for 24 regular issues, including a two-part Origins miniseries and a standalone crossover titled Teknophage vs. Zeerus. It also inspired a novel by Steve Perry and an interactive CD-ROM released in 1996, offering the beginning of the story from four different perspectives. Writers included Kate Worley, Lawrence Watt-Evans, and Christopher Mills, with art by Scot Eaton and Mike Barreiro. Primortals was one of the flagship titles of Tekno Comix, a company known for adapting concepts from celebrity creators into comics scripted and illustrated by freelance professionals.
