A man tells his friend he's obsessed with SOS messages on the radio where people reach out to long-lost relatives; he decides to visit a dying old man looking for his son and pretends to be the son. It ends badly for him.
The story begins "First Broadcast March 26, 1935, with the following cast"; all of the stories in My Grimmest Nightmare were first broadcast on the radio but this is the only one in the book that includes the broadcast date and cast.
