A man living in the year 1905 has a vivid dream about 1945 where the Board of Superannuation sends an annual survey to each person age 65 or older. If the answers are deemed unsatisfactory the person is euthanatized within a fortnight. The form has seven questions: 1) Are you useful (productive)? 2) Are you beautiful? 3) Are you morally better (though still, perhaps, bad) than you were a year ago? 4) Are you contributing to happiness of others? 5) Are you likely to become an object of beauty? 6) Are you happy? 7) State broadly any additional reasons you may have for wishing to continue to live.
