An author whose sister was the victim of a serial killer in childhood returns to his home town when the pattern of murders begins again and claims the wife of a friend. He is aided by a reclusive detective genius, and comes to discover a network of secrets and corruption in the town which finally brings together the loose threads of the previous two novels of the series and finds the true answers to all the questions.
