A portion of this book was originally published as the story "Aztecs" in 2076: The American Tricentennial, edited by Edward Bryant and issued in 1977 by Pyramid Books. Another portion, entitled "Transit", appeared in the October 1983 issue of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine.
