In a civil war, the knight Jacques killed Messire Olivier and was himself killed. Olivier's friend Amaury delivered Jacques's corpse to Olivier's wife Madame Yolande so that she could rejoice; but instead, she became enamored of the dead knight and spent days kissing the corpse. It eventually became possessed by an evil spirit and revived.
