According to the "Author's Note" before the story, this is a retelling of the ballad of Tam Lin.
Set in North Carolina. Librarian Janet Porter rediscovers her lover Ross MacLean, who left her 14 years ago -- and finds she must rescue him from the sidhe queen Lilith.
This does not share location or characters with the author's "Children of the Sea" or "Children of the Air" stories. It does share an over-all mythology -- the sidhe or fairy folk are the Children of the Earth.
