In this short novel, the planet Iszm holds a monopoly on supplying the other worlds of the galaxy with houses that are actually living, growing plants, grown and adapted to fit the needs of their owners by the master Iszic botanists, and Farr Sainh must somehow steal a female house-seed and sneak it off the planet to break this highly lucrative monopoly of living quarters.
Originally published in 1954 in Startling Stories, it was published in 1964 as part of an Ace Double, backed with Son of the Tree, also by Vance.
