In the 1911 US edition the Bedford illustrations are frontispiece, title page, and 11 interior plates not included in the pagination (perhaps also the cover); no drawings in the text. --page [ix], "Illustrations from drawings by F. The UK edition was advertised in August as "just published" (The Scotsman 1911-08-28 p2) but acknowledged by the publisher in October to have been delayed "owing to the great demand"; until the next week, with printing of a third edition already underway (-10-12 p3).
