During the auction discussed in
News from the Auction Room: The Andrew Stevens Collection, the manuscript for William Fryer Harvey's story "The Beast with Five Fingers" was among the items sold. The 59 pages of text are headed by this poem, which written in the same hand as the rest of the manuscript. This poem has not appeared with "The Beast with Five Fingers", but was used by Michael Cox at the end of his introduction to
Casting of the Runes and Other Ghost Stories by M. R. James, Oxford World's Classics, 1987.
