Original Howard title for the story published as "Fangs of Gold". Strange Detective Stories published this story and "The Tomb's Secret" (under Howard's Patrick Ervin pseudonym) in the same issue, February 1934. Apparently, the titles for the two stories got reversed; the titles really fit the opposite stories. Howard's agent, Otis Adelbert Kline, kept a list of stories sold, and on that list, "Fangs of Gold" is hand-written in above "The People of the Serpent".
